Ultimately, JPC Phillips chose to not have stairs cut
into the base of the front staircase as the Phillips did
not want to destroy the free-standing effect or compromise
strength of structural integrity, and safety of the stairs over the years.
Subsequent to the sale of Glanmore while the Museum was closed for renovations
by the Museum Management Board, these stairs, were in fact, put in.

The billiard room/card rooms were completed long before 1929.
A carpenter by avocation and for relaxation, Mr. Phillips would repair
any damage to the wood panelling that might occur from his shop in the basement. He passed away as the result of a fall at his office in 1912.
